I slipped today.

It was just a moment, but…

I slipped.

I can see the future.

Not really, you understand. But,

metaphorically

I can hear the beeping

                Smell the iodine

                                Feel the coarse sheets

It’s all just a matter of time.

This wasn’t supposed to happen.

I wasn’t supposed to be the type.

Fast

Strong

Smart

Handsome

                (Bold I know, but no sense in playing humble)

And none of it means anything.

Because I slipped.

And that means it wasn’t a mistake.

I don’t need a second opinion.

Nature just gave me one,

                                Like a blinking neon sigh.

I slipped today.

I caught myself before I fell.

But it doesn’t feel that way.
