My first reaction when this song came up was, essentially, “but that’s just a nonsense phrase…what the hell can I do with that?” Once I put that idea out there, I could not get past the title. I listened to the songs, I looked at the lyrics, but all that kept running through my head was “this is nonsense!”

At some point, that fixation “forced” me to find a solution for it and the classic password at a speakeasy door came into my mind which struck me as a smart solution to my perceived problem.

The day it was released I believe I was also reading about or tweeting about Superman. With Superman comes intrepid reporter Lois Lane and she became the inspiration for the poem’s POV character. In my mind, I was writing from the perspective of a brunette reporter looking to make her impact on the world of journalism. Unlike Lois though, I think my character can spell properly.

As far as why it ended up a poem…I honestly don’t remember. I remembered the “plot” but I had neglected I did the entry as a poem until I took a look at it for this.

I suppose you could debate the point it is even a poem as opposed, I don’t know, a stream of consciousness prose piece. However, I did tag it as a poem on the site so I know that was my intent at the time.

Again, though, no idea why. Nonetheless, it’s probably the best poem of this cycle.
