Unveiling: Flashback Fridays

Friday Flashbacks are, in most ways, the creation of my brother-in-arms Tim Sheridan. For the past several years now, the week before a big summer movie release, he watches a film related to it. I’m stealing that idea and taking it one(ish) step(s) further. I’ll watch AND review one (or possibly more) films related to the upcoming release for the Friday it opens.

Related is a broad category but I will always at least try to explain why I chose it as “related.” Additionally, I will try to avoid only doing the previous installment of a series for this summer’s sequels. For instance, STAR TREK INTO DARKNESS opens this Friday and while I will rewatch and review the first Abrams helmed TREK film, I will be throwing in at least one other, if for no other reason than to be a little surprising.

Now, admittedly, I’ve already missed two releases (IRON MAN III and THE GREAT GATSBY) but I’m not one to do things halfway, just late and rushed, so you’ll see the Flashbacks for both of those films shortly. For IM III expect KISS KISS BANG BANG and, of course, IRON MAN II and for GATSBY, look for a trifecta of A KNIGHT’S TALE, MARIE ANTIONETTE, and MOULIN ROUGE. Then, as promised, come back Friday for the first on-time Friday Flashbacks installment.

Thanks and enjoy.
